Amerizza wears dual hats as Filtec’s General Manager and Sales Director in the Philippines. The job comes with plenty of hard work, but she and the company can reap the successful rewards of all her hard work.
What is your exact title?
I am the General Manager to office in the Philippines and Sales Director for Isla Pacific to four different Asian countries: Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan.
How long have you been with Filtec?
I have been with Filtec since 2017, four years of happy and challenging work.
Can you give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job?
As a General Manager, I Oversee the daily operations of a business, department and ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, creating, and maintaining budgets, managing employees, and more.
As the Sales Director part of my main responsibility is to grow the market and grow the business with the help of our Loyal Business Partners and Agents. During this pandemic where traveling was restricted, we become creative on how we communicate and keeping in touch with customers to ensure the company continues to provide excellent customer service and meet the market demands.
What projects have you worked on that have been particularly interesting?
One of the most interesting projects I have worked on was the ACL inspection, this equipment was developed from scratch by our R&D and Engineering team at the request of one of our clients here in the Philippines. We spend a lot of time communicating with customers, site inspection to understand the needs and challenges they have, and making sure we deliver equipment that helps to protect their brand.
What skills are the most important for a person in your position?
As both a General Manager and a Sales Director there are four main skills that I believe are essential to this position: Strong leadership, Delegation, Business planning, and Empathy. Management jobs are all about people and being able to build successful relationships is integral. To lead a team, you will need to earn the respect of your colleagues. To do this, you need to know how to effectively deal with people.
I included Empathy as part of important skills, I am a people person, in any decision I make I try to look at things from different perspectives, and it helps to build trust and strengthen relationships within my colleagues and my team.
What are some of the skills you developed early on in your career?
A skill I learned early on was delegation. I am the type of person that likes to do things myself, so I know that they are getting done quickly. But I needed to learn that a part of being a leader is being able to delegate tasks to your employees. So, I quickly learned the necessity of being patient and waiting for people to get the work back to me in a timely manner.
What are the current issues and trends going on in the field that people should be aware of?
Due to Pandemic where we are restricted to go out to do our usual groceries, the trend now is more on online shopping. What is the effect of online shopping in the Beverage and Food Industries?
Companies and Manufacturing Industries have begun connecting the dots when it comes to consumer convenience, and online grocery shopping is on.
Now Filtec has this new Thermal Glue inspection equipment, which is very timely, having this equipment will make sure every carton release in the customer warehouse is properly packed until it reaches the consumer's door.
Where do you see your industry going in the future?
Consumers will pick up their pursuit of immunity boosts, become more conscious about health, consumers are looking for more promises of safety and transparency, and the food and beverage industry needs to communicate more about their efforts in making sure the products they produce are clean and healthier and well packed. Manufacturers will improve and re-invent their packaging to be more transparent with the consumer. This is where Inspection and traceability of products will take place. I believe inspection equipment will continue to focus more on vision systems with reliable results
What are some hobbies and activities you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy painting and I also enjoy having my quiet time to relax and regroup.
